hi i'm new

Hi all, I'm new here... nice to see a real old-school forum like it's supposed to be
I'm a basic code (GWBASIC, QBASIC, FreeBASIC), also been trying Watcom C and mingw32 gcc...
I code mainly in FreeBASIC, and have been a coder for like 8 or 9 years...
Sadly, there is no FreeBASIC subforum here, so I will post the code in "other"?
My real name is not important, my location is not important, and my bio is not important
I don't like talking about politics, and I am not a politician, nor do I like talking about religion (Irish pub rules - no religion or politics)
My favorite movie of all time is "forest gump," hence the nickname
Personally, I think most world and personal problems would be solved if everyone's IQ were to drop by 100 IQ points
will code till I drop dead...
cheers

The general gist of the forums here is that"if people use it, then..."
So, sure, we can have a FreeBASIC, why not! I think a few people here have used it over the years. Fairly sure I have, I think, maybe..
Honestly, there's so many BASICs I've tried out. Who can say for sure?
(FreeBASIC section added)

...
Welcome aboard.

Welcome.
You chose a fairly good basic forum. There are some others that you would not believe are still stuck in the 1970s and 1980s.
Those are not moving the language forward, this one tries and does well, versus those others.

Welcome!

I think there's still some room to go. (I really want first class functions with closures - language features going back to the 50s and 60s)
But BASIC has come a long way from unstructured messes inherited from the style we see with Dartmouth BASIC and its lineage.

You can transpile BASIC syntax to javascript and you will have first class functions for free, and also Class, etc.

This what I have tried before, but i have to stop if for some reason. I still want to try it someday.
